Microplastics and nanoplastics contamination in raw and treated water

Abstract Of recent concern is the degradation of plastics from macro- to micro- and even nanosized. This study investigates content microplastics nanoplastics (MNPs) particles in raw water sources for local population tap drinking as treated water. A total 189 samples were selected analysed quality quantity (MNPs). The results found MNPs all samples, with an average abundance ranging 204 ± 54 336 87 particles/L water, 22 7 33 12 25 15 73 30 divided into three categories according their shape. Fragments fibres clearly dominated samples. majority sizes greater than 125 μm are while those 20 nm mostly domains fragments. composed polyethylene terephthalate, polypropylene, (PE). contributes filling knowledge gap field emerging pollution which due potential human exposure MNPs.
